Should you be elected, what are three specific areas you’d like to change, address, improveor further research, and how specifically would you go about it?:1. . Due to the success and popularity of our growing school district, sporting programs andafter school activities, pedestrian traffic from overflow parking at the shopping center hasincreased. As a licensed professional engineer I will pursue funding for a safety study topotentially implement a mid-block pedestrian crosswalk in the vicinity of the high schoolfootball stadium. ____________________________________________________________________________________ 2. Work alongside stakeholders on a plan to safely and effectively continue to improve theCity’s recreation park behind the school campus. Pursue funding in the 2014 budget for acomprehensive planning study regarding the City’s Chardon Road park property(28+acres). Request that Council and the Administration pursue three grants I identified toaid in the construction costs. The first being the “Land and Water Conservation Fund,” the“Recreational Trails Program” and the “Clean Ohio Trail Fund”. ___________________________________________________________________________________ 3. With the sanitary sewer project complete pursue economic development in the Historic Town District and work with stakeholders for affordable senior housing. ____________________________________________________________________________________  ____________________________________________________________________________________ Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?I ask for my fellow citizens’ vote and trust for a second term because of my knowledge andbackground as a Transportation Engineer at the Ohio Department of Transportation. Withflat revenues, state funding cuts to our local government fund and ever increasinginflationary costs on the city, my expertise in the field of roadway engineering and plandevelopment is an invaluable asset to the city. I will continue to bring the State of Ohio’sbest management practices (BMP’s) all while continually identifying grant funding sourcesfor Council and the Administration to consider. ____________________________________________________________________________________
Past Term Accomplishments:
Council as a whole has approved yearly operating budgets that have been responsible andprudent. The city’s bond rating is top tier which allows us to borrow money at veryfavorable rates. Over the last 4 years Council has overseen the retirement of several debtnotes and saved the city interest charges by refinancing existing debt notes at rates as lowas 1%! Council has been an excellent steward of YOUR taxpayer dollars.City infrastructure projects completed during my term include the sanitary sewer projectthru the Historic Town District, Tibbetts Road paving and drainage improvements, SperryRoad and (SR 6) Chardon Road intersection improvements, SR 306 widening/resurfacingand signalization improvements near Lakeland Community College. (SR 6) Chardon Roadresurfacing and drainage improvements, additional parking at the recreation park behindthe school campus and a new waste water treatment plant at the Community Center. Taxpayer saving efficiencies gained in my term include: 2011 – City entered into HealthInsurance Regionalization Program for city employee health benefits savings.
