Walk for Safety on June 18


Aurora Traffic Safety Project Launch - Called “Expect the Unexpected”
SEATTLE– Join over 100 Bagley Elementary School students, Aurora Avenue North residents, the Feet
First Chicken, the Bagley Bee and even an accordionist as they walk for safety and then officially launch
“Expect the Unexpected” – a lead element of the Aurora Traffic Safety Project.

The Seattle Department of Transportation will host this event as part of efforts to make Aurora a safer,
friendlier road. The project seeks to reduce collisions, traffic congestion and improve pedestrian
mobility and safety through a safety outreach campaign, increased police enforcement, and $250,000 in
road and sign improvements.

Time: Safety walk begins at 8:30 a.m. / Launch event occurs at 9:05 a.m.

Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009

Place: Walk starts at N 80th St and Aurora Ave N / Walk ends at the event site of Bagley Elementary
School (7821 Stone Avenue N)
