Course Description This is an undergraduate course which has a theoretical and clinical components (with four credit hours), the theoretical component is in the form of about 14-16 lectures that cover basic topics in oral surgery and the medical problems that might interfere with the patient`s treatment and management. The clinical component is in the form of clinical training (one 3-hour session every other week). The course is designed to provide guidance to begin delivery of simple oral surgical treatment such as simple teeth extractions and discussion of medical issues. Course Objectives This course is designed to provide students with: 1. Current concepts and evidence based knowledge of oral surgery . 2. The management of medically compromised patients. 3. Minor oral surgery armamentarium and basic skills . 4. Management of complicated extractions and wisdoms removal. 5. Orofacial infections and management .

Introduce the student with the common medical problems the 2 patients might have , their basic management and relevance in the dental practice . Additional Notes Attendance: Students must attend 100% of all scheduled classes and labs. Class participation is required. Should an absence be necessary, student should contact the course instructor by telephone immediately. Work missed can ONLY make up with an excused absence. - Each unexcused absence will result in a grade penalty of 1% point deducted from the final total grade - No make-up exams or quizzes will be given for unexcused absences - Late arrivals to class are unexcused absences - All course make-ups, test, and so forth, must be completed within 14 days from the date of the excused absence.
