Welcome to Planet Nilknarf!!!!
Here's to celebrating FIVE amazing years of exciting travel, colourful artwork and random, honestmusings! This month I will be showing highlights of the 2013 National Carousel Association Convention inKansas, but first I would like to share with you this very important link:http://www.buzzfeed.com/hnigatu/comics-that-capture-the-frustrations-of-depressionSince I've been back from Kansas I've been recovering from a very nasty cold. Understatement of themillennium! I am SO NOT exaggerating when I say this is the WORST SORE THROAT I've EVER hadin my life!! The worst part is that I've felt like nobody really believes me or understands. “It's just a sorethroat.” Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! And the Titanic is “just a boating accident. I woke up with a sore throat on themorning of Saturday, September 21
and managed to drag myself through the rest of the convention.I'm glad I'd already decided ahead of time not to leave until Monday so I'd have time to rest after themeeting whether I was sick or not. I needed it and slept most of that afternoon.Of course, during the flight home I developed an ear infection and my throat continued to get worsethroughout the week. I wasn't going to seek medical help at first because I'd been through this beforewhen I came home from Denver in 2011 only to be told by the doctor at Urgent Care “It's just a virus.Nothing to do but let it run its course.” But I ended up dragging myself there on Thursday, October 3
and this time the doctor prescribed antibiotics. The only problem is she never thought to prescribe anything for the pain so I kept getting worseinstead of better and my husband ended up taking me to the hospital Saturday night, or early Sundaymorning more accurately. The hospital is a joke! We were there from about 1:30 in the morning untilaround 5. We must have waited at least two hours before they finally called on me. I waited at leasthalf an hour before the first doctor looked at me and he didn't seem to believe me, thinking my throatmustn't be all that sore if I can cry out like that. HELLO!! I was crying out in PAIN!!! He disappearedand I waited ANOTHER half an hour for the next doctor, a lady who did a swab and it felt like shenearly scooped out half my brain in the process. At least she prescribed me some Tylenol 3's but I still have to take my antibiotics. Damn HORSEPILLS! I've tried grinding them up into a powder to mix with my iced tea or Ensure but they are sobloody BITTER!! At least I'm finally not in as much pain even though it seemed to take forever for Dave to finally leave the house and buy me my Tylenols. He seems to think it's more important for meto learn PATIENCE than get relief from my pain.Janette seems to be the only one who hasn't thought I'm exaggerating, being a drama queen or beinga big baby!!!
