Sales Overview
Why Sell Cancn?
Cancn is an island paradise with something for everyone.
You might think you know Cancn -- 14 miles of pristine white beaches shaped like a number 7, crystalline waters, and sultry nights sipping on the perfect margarita, right? Right. And wrong. If this is the extent of what you are selling your clients, oh are you ever missing Cancn! With extensive renovation of infrastructure, resorts, beaches, and attractions, Cancn continues to be a destination with something for everyone -- home to Mayan archaeological wonders, turquoise seas, a bountiful underwater world (and our new sculpture gardens), sea turtle rescue programs, and world-class vacation amenities. Cancn offers a complete vacation experience unequaled anywhere else in Mexico or the Caribbean. Resting on the northeast corner of the Yucatn Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo (keen-tah-nah-ROW), Cancn was a part of the ancient Mayan civilization and is still considered the gateway to the Mayan World (El Mundo Maya). Mayan temples and ritual sites are literally everywhere, some smothered by lush jungle, others easily accessible (one pops up at one of our golf courses). There is even a Mayan temple overlooking the Caribbean Sea in the heart of the Cancn Hotel Zone! Perhaps your client is a sports enthusiast. Cancn will not disappoint, with its many golf courses (5 in Cancn with an additional 8 nearby), incredible coral reefs for snorkeling and scuba diving, sport-fishing, and jungle tours. You name it and you can easily arrange it for your client in Cancn. And if lying on a whitesand beach with the clear blue Caribbean lapping at suntanned toes is what your client longs for, then Cancn makes no apologies. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are in and around Cancn. They are a big reason why Cancn is Latin Americans most important leisure destination. For clients who have encountered lax service at other Caribbean destinations, and are now looking for something better - Cancn is that something better.
Most of your clients know that no matter what a destination offers in the way of attractions, local hosts are the true soul of the vacation experience. In this way, Cancn is truly blessed. Mexicans are patient, courteous people. Because Cancn exists as a haven for tourists, we understand that going the extra mile means repeat visitors and new friendships. As we will illustrate in this program, Cancn is a gift to the travel agent. It is a safe, beautiful locale, with an abundance of quality accommodations and enough activities to keep your clients busy and enthused each time they return for as often as they visit our even better Caribbean island paradise.

a AFTER DARK: The typical problem with many Caribbean destinations is theres nothing to do after the sun goes down. Not so in Cancn! Impress clients with the fact that Cancn nightlife is legendary. The lines in front of the hottest clubs will dispel any doubts as to the best places to dance until dawn. For a quieter evening, romantic sunset cocktails or a jazz trio serenade can be sampled nightly, accompanied by a sumptuous Mexican buffet. Dining is a delectable experience in Cancn. Dinner can be enjoyed to the sounds of live mariachi, jazz, or marimba music. From tried and true American chain restaurants, to the traditional Yucatn fare served in authentic, festive surroundings; to expertly prepared Italian, Chinese, and Thai dishes, Cancn dining is international in scope.

ACTIVITIES
QQ I saw on the news that the crime rate along Mexicos northern border is a concern. Do you really think a Mexico vacation is a good idea?
A Cancn vacation is a great A idea. It is important to note that the border region is over 1,000 miles away from Cancn. In fact, it takes longer to fly from Cancn to Mexico City than it does to fly from Miami to Cancn! The two areas have little in common except for traditions and customs that are part of every Mexican city. Cancn is a very safe city. It is not uncommon to see tourists strolling along the sidewalks of the Hotel Zone at 1, 2, or 3 a.m., without any misgivings. Because Cancn was created for tourism, all city-wide institutions are geared toward welcoming tourists and keeping them happy.

Finding the Ideal Mexican Caribbean Options
You commonly encounter clients who are undecided about which destination is best suited to their needs. There are also clients who have set opinions and have done extensive research before consulting you. Cancns phenomenal popularity (over 3.3 million annual visitors) has created an interesting challenge: while Cancn enjoys very high topof-mind recognition, the destination also falls victim to stereotyped or outdated impressions about what it REALLY offers. You may need to work to dispel misconceptions, and to instill your clients with a realistic view. With repeat business a cornerstone of your success, crafting the ideal, customized vacation is an essential part of your job. Youll discover in this course that Cancn is unique in its broad appeal. Just about any vacation want can be fulfilled (okay, we dont have snow skiing). Lets take a look at some of the key audience groups that Cancn appeals to.
QQ We have been all over the Caribbean and now we want to try Mexico. We want an authentic Mexican experience, so we figured Cancn was not an option weve heard it is very Americanized.
Yes and no. Cancn offers the best of both A worlds for the North American traveler. a ISLA Cancn
(Cancn Island) is home to the Zona Hotelera (Hotel Zone), a 14-mile stretch of beaches shaped like a 7. The Zone was extensively refurbished in 2006 and beaches were widened in early 2010. The island is nestled between two glittering blue bodies of water - the Caribbean Sea and Nichupt Lagoon - and joined to the mainland by bridges on the north and south ends. Avenida Cob in Cancn City becomes Kukulcn (coo-coolKAHN) Blvd., the main thoroughfare on the island. Addresses are often given by kilometer number on Kukulcn Blvd.
a CIUDAD Cancn
(Cancn City), usually referred to as Zona Centro or downtown, is on the mainland and is concentrated in an area of about twenty square blocks. Its main thoroughfare is Avenida Tulm. Addresses in Cancn City are listed by referring to the manzana (block) or super-manzana (group of blocks represented by the letters SM). Heading south, Avenida Tulm becomes the highway to the airport, and to Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, and Tulm. Follow Av. Tulm to the north and it becomes the road to Puerto Jurez, where ferries depart for Isla Mujeres (one of several options).
