VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP)
The Department o Veterans Aairs provides comprehensivedental care to Veterans who meet eligibility standards; however,the beneft is not available to many Veterans. VA would like allVeterans and benefciaries to have access to good oral health.Good oral health is more than just a nice smile or ability to chewavorite oods – it impacts a person’s overall health throughout hisor her lie.VA’s Dental Insurance Program (VADIP) oers enrolled Veteransand benefciaries o VA’s Civilian Health and Medical Program(CHAMPVA) the opportunity to purchase dental insurance at areduced cost. VA is oering this service through Delta Dental andMetLie.VADIP is a three-year, national pilot program to assess theeasibility and advisability o providing a premium-based dentalinsurance plan to eligible individuals. The program is mandatedby Public Law 111-163, Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus HealthServices Act o 2010.
Eligibility for VADIP
Veterans enrolled in the VA health care program and CHAMPVAprogram benefciaries are eligible to participate in VADIP.Participation in VADIP will not aect Veterans’ eligibility or VAdental services and treatment.Dependents o Veterans, except those eligible under CHAMPVA,are not eligible or VADIP; however, separate coverage optionsmay be oered dependents by the insurance carrier.
