2013 CHRISTMAS FOOD BOX APPLICATION
The Humboldt County Ministerial Association is again accepting applications for
their annual Christmas Food Box program. You may pick up an application at sev-
eral locations. The Church ofces of both Our Saviours Lutheran and Faith United
Methodist in Humboldt, the table located on the 3rd oor hallway of the Humboldt
County Courthouse or on Monday and Wednesday mornings between the hours
of 9:30 and 11:30 from the Food Pantry located on Highway 3, in the County
Engineers Building at 2221 220th St., Humboldt, IA.
This box is to provide a family in need with a complete holiday meal, and all
children 18 years of age and under will be placed on the Angel Tree to receive a
gift. As with last year, all Angels will be placed on the Angel Tree to be located
at the Humboldt Faith United Methodist Church during the Christmas Tree Walk.
Deadline for receipt of all applications is Friday, December 6, 2013.

1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley
4 tablespoons butter
3 cups chicken broth
4 cups cubed potatoes
1/4 cup all-purpose our
2 cups cubed cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup sour cream
PREPARATION:
1. In a large pot, melt 1 tbsp butter or margarine over medium
heat: cook and stir vegetables and beef , until beef is brown.
2. Stir in basil and parsley. Add broth and potatoes. Bring to a
boil, then simmer until potatoes are tender, about 10-12 min-
utes. 3. Melt the remainder of butter and stir in our. Add the
milk, stirring until smooth. 4. Gradually add milk mixture to
the soup, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and reduce heat
to simmer. Stir in cheese. When cheese is melted, add sour
cream and heat through. Do not boil. 6-8 servings

Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Anyone wishing to vote an absentee ballot may
do so at the Auditors Ofce from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through November 4, 2013 and
from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on November 5, 2013. Absentee voting can also be done by
mail by requesting an ofcial absentee ballot request form from the Humboldt County Au-
ditors Ofce, by downloading the form from the Secretary of States website at www.sos.
state.ia.us, or by submitting your absentee request on a 3 x 5 piece of paper that contains
the following information:
Your date of birth
Your full name and complete address, including city, state and zip code
Address the ballot should be mailed to, if different from your home address
The date of the election or the name of the election (11/5/2013, City Election)
Your original signature and date of signing
The absentee ballot request form must be returned to the Humboldt County Auditors
