This paper examines the financial determinants of research and development (R&D) investment in Asia sampling listed nonfinancial firms in eight economies in region for the period 2002-2011 and find greater reliance of firms on internal financing, dominance of debt as a source of external funds, and more stable funding of R&D by firms with higher domestic ownership concentration and those with majority foreign ownership.
