Find out the relationship between specific gravity of urine and kidney function.
The role of kidney is to concentrate the urine so that the waste products can be excreted out of the body with minimal loss of water. Specific gravity indicates
the ability of kidneys to concentrate or dilute urine in relation to plasma. The more concentrated the urine, the higher the urine specific gravity, and vice versa.
One of the most common causes of increase of specific gravity of urine is dehydration, which may due to low fluid intake or excessive salt intake.
