NRC MAY ALLOW FPL TO DUMP MILLIONS OF GALLONS OFTAINTED RECLAIMED WATER JUST BELOW FLORIDA’SDRINKING WATER TABLE FOR THE NEXT 60-YEARS

On June 30, 2009, Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) filed anapplication with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to build twomore nuclear power plants near the existing Turkey Point Nuclear Plant site.FPL states in its application documents that it intends to dump millions of gallons of tainted reclaimed water just below Florida’s drinking water table inan area extending from the southern tip of Florida to north of Stuart, Florida.Saporito Energy Consultants, Inc. (SEC) through its president, ThomasSaporito intend to oppose FPL’s construction of these two nuclear powerplants in a legal proceeding before the NRC’s Atomic Safety and LicensingBoard (ASLB) which has authority to deny FPL’s application.
“These twoadditional nuclear power plants will have an adverse effect on the fragileecological environment and could permanently contaminate Florida’sdrinking water table.
If there is a nuclear accident, million of gallons of highly radioactive water could permanently contaminate our drinking water.”

Saporito said.FPL’s customer base has decreased by approximately 5,000 customersrecently due to the down-turn in the U.S. economy. FPL should provide itscustomers with a lease-to-own solar/wind renewable energy system for theirhomes and businesses. Such a program would significantly decrease FPL’sbase-load demand on its electric grid and diminish any need for constructionof two more nuclear power plants in Florida.>>> End of release <<<
