The Lord Helps Missionaries

Book of Mormon stories that my teacher tells to meAre about the Lamanites in ancient history.Long ago their fathers came from far across the sea,
Giv’n the land if they lived righteously.
Ammon was a missionary serving Lamanites,
Tending King Lamoni’s sheep for several days and nights.
Robbers came; he saved the sheep by fighting fearlessly.He had learned he could live righteously.
I Hope They Call Me on a Mission
I hope they call me on a mission,when I have grown a foot or two.I hope by then I will be ready,to teach and preach and work as missionaries do.

On Sunday,

, our class will give the sharing time classpresentation in Primary. The presentation will last 15-20 minutesand be about how the Lord blesses missionaries. We will beacting out the scripture story of Ammon, the missionary in theBook of Mormon (Alma chapters 17
 –
19).We will do this whole presentation twice; once for Junior primaryand once for Senior primary.These are your parts:Look for your part in this program and see if you can practice it athome with classmates, with family, or with other friends. Wordsin black are read by the narrator. Words in red just mean this isthe character and what he is doing.
Narrator:
King Lamoni was converted along with thousands of other Lamanites. From this we learn that the Lord protectsmissionaries and gives them great power to do His work.
 
(The End)Everyone will go back to their seats.A returned missionary will talk with the children about a 5 minuteexperience he had on his mission where he was protected by theLord and given great power like Ammon.Then our class will pass out papers to the primary children towrite letters to our ward missionaries. We will pass out papers,crayons, and pencils
(we’ll get them fro
m the library).
At the end, we will sing some missionary songs (words are on theback), while the kids finish up their letters.

Ammon:
Cut off the arm of every robber who lifts his club toslay you. (Tap each shoulder with your sword of the Lamanitesheep robbers. They will have a fake arm up their sleeve that willdrop to the ground, as if their arm was cut off when you hit themwith the sword).
Lamanite robbers:
Raise your arm to slay Ammon with yourclub. When Ammon taps your shoulder with his sword, have yourfake arm drop to the ground. Then slip your arm out of the sleeveand into the suit coat so it appears that you have no arm.The robbers became so frightened that they ran away.
Lamanite robbers:
Run away and go to the back of the primaryroom and sit down.
The king’s servant gathered the arms and took them to the king.
 
King’s Servant:
Pick up the fake arms and take them to KingLamoni.King Lamoni was very astonished when the
king’s servants told
him what had happened. He wanted to know what power had
helped Ammon. He was prepared to listen to Ammon’s message.
Ammon taught King Lamoni the gospel.
Ammon
:Stand in front of King Lamoni with an open book of scriptures as if you are teaching him the gospel.
Narrator:
Ammon was one of the sons of a righteous kingnamed Mosiah. Ammon loved Jesus Christ and wanted to servehim. He asked his father if he could go teach the Lamanitesinstead of become king.
Ammon:
Go to Mosiah (stage right)His father knew this would be very dangerous, so he prayed andasked if Ammon and his brothers should go.
Mosiah:
kneels down to pray (stay kneeling while the nextsentence is narrated and then you are done).Heavenly Father told Mosiah that he should let his sons go, andthat they would be protected and help many Lamanites come to aknowledge of the truth. Ammon prayed and fasted that the Spiritwould be with him and help him.
