Under the guidance and dedication of Ger-ald Gallegos as the Board Chair, The YouthFoundation has expanded our reach, dou-bled our budget, increased our staff, andimplemented a national affiliation with TheFirst Tee. As Gerald’s term as Board Chaircomes to an end, he will remain engagedand active as a board member and I proudlyaccept the opportunity to follow in his foot-steps as we enter our tenth year of service.We are enthusiastic about two new direc-tors who have joined the Youth Founda-tion board, Jim Allen, Chairman and CEOof the Vail Valley Jet Center, who has alsobeen actively involved with our First Tee andGuardian Scholars programs, and MichaelByram, former President and CEO of the CUFoundation. The Board of Directors haveembraced the opportunity to focus our at-tention on organizational sustainability withstrategic vision and guidance. We are hereto support the staff in their efforts to bestserve children for the long run.What an exciting time for The YouthFoundation as we approach our tenth an-niversary. Our mission has helped improvethe quality of life and provided opportuni-ties for thousands of children in this valley.Today, that mission is as vital as ever asThe Youth Foundation fuels our children’sfuture through scholarships, homeworkhelp, character development and recre-ational activities.  Yesterday, Today,Tomorrow – On anygiven day, there arehundreds of childrenin Youth Foundationprograms throughout Eagle County. Weprovide life skills for a lifetime and oppor-tunities for their tomorrows.For ten years now The Youth Founda-tion has been extending education andrecreational opportunities to childrenand families who are impacted by thegrowing “opportunity gap” that existsin our rural resort community. All of theprograms we provide to children includefive essential ingredients:
SAFE
~safety of children both physicaland psychological; clean, safeenvironments, caring and supportivecertified educators, and comprehen-sive background checks on all staffand volunteers
FUN
~activities that enhance children’snatural sense of curiosity, exploration,discovery, and sense of well being
A LITERACY COMPONENT
~opportuni-ties for intentional skill building
GIVE BACK
~service learning experi-ences that offer children a chanceto shape our society and experiencetheir inherent self worth
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
