I can hardly believe thatJuly is almost over!We finally got some niceweather this month, whichwas great for Aquapalooza, although alittle rainy at Relay for Life.I want to use mycomments this month totell everyone how proud Iam to be part of this group.I'm definitely not the mostorganized leader and Ithink that there are MANYways that I could be better at this, but it doesn't seemto matter when I suckbecause you guys ROCK!! Seriously, consider allwe've done this year:Started a book club,recruited

new membersalready, successfully ranAquapalooza again,improved and increasedparticipation in Roots onthe River, participated inRelay for Life for the firsttime, built stronger groupbonds through activitieslike bowling, progressivedinners and TGIFs.

I'm also really excited byall the things our members are doingoutside of the Jaycees:- Travis is doingwonderful with HomeGrown Saturdays andstarting an UltimateFrisbee Group.- Has anyone taken alook at the pictures onBrady's Facebook profilelately? Hellophotographer!- Denise and Chad areworking so hard on their house.- And I hear that Sarahhas really stepped up her golf game this summer along with hostingfabulous parties at theClub.- Shaun's musiccontinues to makepeople happy!- And Jessica'sworking on buyingher first house! The only thing thatdisappoints me is thatI haven't had achance to catch upwith ALL of you!Keep up the goodwork everyone;you're making mevery proud that Ichose to be Presidentof the Jaycees thisyear!

I want to take a minute to inviteeveryone out to play someUltimate Frisbee. I'm starting anew, informal, co-ed group inthe Manistee area to play thisawesome sport on a weeklybasis.No experience necessary, allskill/athletic levels are welcome.Even if you've never played or heard of Ultimate, it's a ton of fun and a great workout. For those unfamiliar, Ultimatecombines elements of soccer,football and other sports into agame using a frisbee to scorepoints (touchdowns) by passingbetween teammates. It'sregarded as a non-contact sport.You can learn more on theofficial UPA website:www.upa.org
 
We'll go over the basic rulesthe first few times we gettogether. It's really easy topick up.This will be just a regular "pick-up" game where wedivide into teams and let"spirit of the game" govern.This first week, we'll play onMonday (7/27) and Thursday(7/30) at 6:00. We’ll discussalternative days/times for thefuture.Location will be the ManisteeMiddle School football field.If that's taken, back-uplocation will be Sands Parkon the other side of themiddle school. We'll playrain or shine, unless there'slightening or just too muchwind.No equipment is needed,ust some athletic shoes (or cleats if you have them - nometal though). I'll bringplenty of discs.Drop me a line if you haveany questions.
