In late 2004, when Peter Heimlich began speaking out in the media about his father's medical frauds, Dr. Heimlich and Peter's brother Phil Heimlich started a smear campaign against Peter, telling reporters Peter "had a history of mental illness" and other false and defamatory statements.
On March 28, 2006, Peter's attorney, First Amendment defender Louis Sirkin, sent this cease and desist, apology demand letter to Phil Heimlich.
Per this November 1, 2006 article in Cincinnati CityBeat by Kevin Osborne, Peter Heimlich was offered a settlement which he rejected in lieu of an apology: http://tinyurl.com/278nqj
