Aquinoas Library and Infor-mation Servicesmonth by virtue of Proclamation NO.837 on November 19, 1991, while Pres.Manuel L. Quezonsigned ProclamationNo. 109 on Novem-ber 19, 1937 Desig-nating the periodfrom November 24 to30 of the year as Na-tional Book Week.Thus, everymonth of November Librarians through-out the Philippinescelebrate the Na-tional Book weekand Library and In-formation ServicesMonth.This year’s themewas “Ang BatangPalabasa Dalubhasasa Kultura”.QCPL Librariansand staff joined inthe celebration byattending the motor-cade at the QuirinoGrandstand last No-vember 3, 2008.This day was alsothe awarding cere-mony of the MostOutstanding PublicLibrary in the Na-tional Capital Regionwherein all publiclibraries of cities andmunicipalities werenominees. QCPL continues to provide outreach servicesnot only to Quezon City Residents but also tolibraries from other cities and municipalities inthe country. This has been the advocacy of theincumbent City Librarian, Ms. Emelita L.Villanueva. Last January 6, 2009, QCPL do-nated assorted reference books for the under-privileged students at Porac, Pampanga.QCPL staff also presented a Puppet Show.And on January 29, 2009, Librarians fromArayat, Pampanga also got their share of book donations. The books were part of thesolicited reference materials from CI Philip-pines, which is being shared by the library.********The QCPL had a meeting withbarangay officials last Jan. 22,2009, to report and update themon matters that pertain to the pro- jects, programs and accomplish-ments of the libraries under their jurisdiction. This is to at least in-spire them of these accomplish-ments. It was reiterated duringthis meeting that their support tothe libraries is needed to providebetter services to their constitu-ents.

January 22, 2009, Ms. Cynthia Tolado, Librarian V and Mr. Troy Lacsamana,Head Coordinator for Branch Libraries reported to Barangay officials or their rep-resentatives the status of branch libraries under their jurisdiction.

To date QCPL has twenty branch libraries serving in the different districts in Quezon City. Theyhave been very active in their outreach activities and continuously conducting storytelling, filmshowing, puppet shows and information literacy seminars, all under the able leadership of Mr.Troy Lacsamana, Head of the Outreach services for Branch Libraries, Ms. Jeniffer Adajo,branch coordinator for Districts 1 and 2, and Ms. Janet Alday, coordinator for Districts 3 and 4.
