Open Letter of Filipino Patriots to Obama.P.S. Don't boost her 'wrong side of history'

In anticipation of the scheduledJuly 30, 2009 visit of Philippine"President" Gloria Arroyo to theWhite House, a group of Filipino patriots wrote an open letter toUnited States President Barack Obama urging him to look intothe genuine state of the Philippinenation. The communicationreminds the US leader of hisinaugural address that warnedworld leaders "who cling to power through corruption anddeceit and the silencing of dissent… [as being] on the wrongside of history."The signatories, which includetwo former Senate Presidents,former senators and cabinetsecretaries, activist religiousleaders, and the NBN-ZTE bribery scandal whistle-blower,urge the American leader to bewell "mindful of Ms Arroyo'slegacy of corruption, extra- judicial killings, enforceddisappearances, torture, bribery,election cheating, among others."The meat of the letter imploresObama "to inspire hope and be aninstrument of change for thecommon good of the longsuffering Filipino people."
