TJ, thanks for you two-cents. Yes, you do need to make sure any extended warranty bought from an outside vendor would be covered for repairs, I do not agree with the statement that no dealer will honor any extended warranty. Regarding your opinion on us 'experts', the greed of those running the auto industry has led to the distrust people have about your industry. Unfortunately too many people have been burned too often. The tricks came Long before the experts!

I am a F and I manager for a large dealer. The extended warraty issue in this letter is innacurate. Most all "aftermarket" warranties are not honored at dealers. My dealership only honors the name brand warranty. The Aftermarket warranties are too shady, and rarely pay in a timely manner. Most states let you "mark up" a service plan 100%. This is normal retail, if not under.

As for the "point adding", it costs time and money to arrange financing also. Adding to the point is neither a crime, immoral or unjust. If you can get your own terms, go for it. Typically your bank won't finace the inequity you carry on your car now either.

These so called experts are the reasons dealers use "tricks" to pad their bottoms lines. If it wasn't for these so called experts a decent revenue could be made from the purchase of a car making if profitable to just do vehicle business and your finacing and service plans would cost less.

Just my $.02!
