The Montebello Police Officers Association is aware of the 13 claims made by various
Montebello Police Officers against the City of Montebello, certain City Council Members and
The Chief of Police, Daniel A. Weast. While aware of these complaints, the MPOA is
neutral in these affairs and takes no position either against or in favor of either side at this time.

However, in recent days there have been several troublesome statements made by Montebello
City Councilwoman Kathy Salazar wherein she has referred to these 13 officers as "Rogue" and
the "Unlucky 13." Rogue is defined as, "an unreliable and deceitful scoundrel." By these
irresponsible and unprofessional comments, Ms. Salazar has not only called into question the
integrity of the 13 individual officers and MPOA members but of the entire department with
whom these officers with work on a daily basis.

Therefore, based upon Ms. Salazar's slanderous comments, and on behalf of the members, the
MPOA board has unanimously voted to rescind it's endorsement of Ms. Salazar immediately and
forever.
