Description from the absctract

This paper mainly describes my experience coaching a teacher to teach his pupils in an interior school. The main purpose of my coaching was to upgrade the quality of teaching and learning of mathematics in the teacher’s classrooms. During the coaching, I observed the teacher’s lessons and offered feedbacks and suggestions for his teaching. In addition, I also planned and taught some of the lessons together with the teacher. Based on the experience, I conclude that interior teachers need to (a) see their pupils’ potential with a clear mind, (b) conduct teaching that is more learner centred, and (c) explore the potential of indigenous materials and indigenous pedagogy. Finally, I also argue for the importance of nurturing the heart of a teacher.
