Figures for the problems : O 1- In a L shaped frame ABC the arm AB is conducting where the other arm BC,

is nonconducting. There is uniform magnetic field B acting out of the plane of the frame. Now the frame is pulled with uniform velocity V in direction as shown in the fig. Arm AB is of length L and BC is of length 1.5 L. What is the potential difference induced between the ends A and C ? Q2- A cyclotron is used to accelerate a charged particle of 2 rnicrocoulomb and mass 10 milligram using magnetic field of strength 0.5 tesla. What ts the cyclic frequency of the oscillator used to obtain perfect resonance ? Q3- In the fig. AB is a rheostat of total resistance 4R and length L. As the pointer is moved from the right end A towards the end B. what will be the potential across the resistance R when the pointer touches at distance L /4 , 3 L/ 4 from the end B? Q4-A long solenoid of length L and total turns N carry current I .Radius of the solenoid is r. If the current in the solenoid reduces to zero in time T at uniform rate, find the electric field induced at distance 2 r from the axis of the solenoid . If any conducting circular loop of resistance R and radius 2 r was placed coaxially with the solenoid, then what amount of charge would have circulated Ihrough the loop ? Q 5- In the fig shown, a long wire carry current I which Is constant. The conducting rod has length d between the two parallel conducting rails whose left ends are connected to a resistor of resistance R. How much current will be produced in the resistor if the rod is moved with velocity v as shown ? How much power and force Is required to move the rod with the velocity v ?

Hints:
1. _X In nonconducting medium, no motional emf will be induced. 2. _X In the cyclotrons, frequency of the source oscillator should be equal to the frequency at which the charged particle rotates . 3. _X The portion of the rheostat in the right of the pointer will be in parallel combination with R and resistance of uniform wires is proportional to the length of the wires. 4. _X For the first part recall that the magnetic field inside the long solenoid is parallel to the axis .Also recall that how the electric field is induced due to the time varying magnetic field in the region which is outside the circular region. Also we should know a formula which predicts the amount of the charge circulated due to the change in the magnetic flux associated with any loop of resistance R ! 5. _X First obtain the motional emf in the moving rod keeping in mind that magnetic field over the rod is not constant. Then obtain current and force.
