For almost 20 years, EPA has played a significantrole in the development and support of scientificdiving. Averaging over 2000 dives annually, itsexemplary safety record is attributed to thoroughtraining, adherence to established standards andprocedures, and the use of quality, well maintainedequipment. Over 400 divers from EPA, other federalagencies, and state and local governmentalorganizations have been trained and certified at theEPA National Diver Training Center in Gulf Breeze.
