The National Human Rights Observerof Cameroon was created in 2006 withassistance from the Concerted Program forMulti-Actors (CPMA). It consists of fiveRegional Observers with each havingseveral Cameroonian civil organizations.The regional observers are as follows:1.
 
The Littoral Regional Observer:It covers the Littoral andSouth West Regions. It focuseson arbitrary arrests andunlawful detentions.2.
 
The Centre Regional Observer:It covers the Regions of the Centre.It focuses on the economic andsocial sectors.3. The West Observer:It covers the West and North West.It focuses on land problems.4. The North Observer: It coversthe Regions of the Far North,North and Adamawa. It alsofocuses on land issues.5. The East Observer: It focuses onillegal exploitation of forest and mining.Each regional observer isled by a Cameroonian civilsociety organizationThe objectives of the observerinclude, among others,the monitoring of human rightsviolations and the basic objective scited above as well as the productionof an annual report on the situationof human rights in Cameroon.The observer is made up of a generalassembly (general meeting of all organizationsof the regional observers); a technicalsecretariat which consists of threeleading organizations of the regionalobserver in the Littoral, West and Centre.Their role within the secretariatinclude: coordination, communication,and management of projects.
