115.1 ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR TECHNICAL SCHOOL- Pg. 2 Page 2 of 3 A student denied permission to attend the Dauphin County Technical School  because of the lack of one (1) or more of the criteria listed above may request a waiver in writing addressed to the high school principal. Such communication will outline specifically the extenuating circumstances the student feels should be considered by the school district relative to the student's application to attend the Dauphin County Technical School. A student may be granted permission to attend the Dauphin County Technical School by the Superintendent, upon the recommendation of the high school  principal, should the circumstances outlined in the waiver request merit making an exception to the minimum criteria outlined above. Transferring Students must request to transfer to the Dauphin County Technical School by March 1st for the next school year. Between March 1st and the end of the first six weeks of the next school year, a student may request a transfer to the Dauphin County Technical School by indicating in writing to the high school guidance office the reasons for such a request. Such a request will be considered as an exception to normal procedure. For such a request to be honored, extenuating circumstances are necessary. For each such request, a written recommendation from the appropriate guidance counselor and the middle/high school principal will be made to the Superintendent, who will make a decision. Students desiring to attend the Dauphin County Technical School and making application for the exploratory and shop areas, after the end of the first marking  period, will be considered as applying for the following school year.  Newly admitted students will be required to remain at the Dauphin County Technical School for the first four (4) weeks of the school year except when released for medical reasons. During that time, a student will have spent two (2) weeks in academic classes and two (2) weeks in shop-laboratory. At the end of this period, a first year student may request reassignment to the home school through the Dauphin County Technical School Guidance Coordinator, who will contact the designated representatives of the home school. At the start of the seventh week of school, transfer will cease except for extreme cases which will be handled individually following the above procedure.
