CREW filed a complaint against the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) seeking the expedited release of records concerning DOJ's investigation and prosecution of Paul J. Magliocchetti, the founder and owner of PMA Group, Inc., for false statements, making illegal conduit campaign contributions, making illegal corporate campaign contributions, and other charges. Mr. Magliocchetti pled guilty to most of the charges against him, and the government made public the plea agreement he entered with DOJ and issued press releases announcing both the prosecution and the plea agreement.

Re: Paul Magliocchetti, Case No. 10-cr-286
Dear Judge Ellis,I know I am addressing a High Court Justice and I have the utmost respect for you and yourposition. As a retired Law Enforcement Officer and fellow Aviator I am respectfully requesting that asyou read my letter you would see more than words on a page, but instead hear the heart of a writer thatyou have never met.Paul Magliocchetti came into my life several years ago as another dancer on the floor at the Ritz Carltonwhere my band plays on the weekends. At that time, I didn’t know the existence of PMA Group or Paul’slife as a Lobbyist. The Paul I came to know was a always a gentleman who had the highest respect for mywife, a person who greeted wait staff, floor polishers and doormen by their first name. He would take thetime to stop and learn more about them and their families and retain that information until his nextencounter with them. A warm hearted man who always asks me how my aging military Father is doing aswell as my Nephew who is in the Army and just returned from his fourth tour in Afghanistan. A mostgenerous human being, who never lets me pay, or even see the bill at a lunch or dinner table.Paul and I became close over the course of a few years and during that time I have seen the smile thatonce created his laugh lines turn into a blank stare. The conversations about the highlights of life have
become overcast with despair and depression. For the past two years he has been serving an early
sentencing that he has imposed on himself with deepest remorse and regret. I have always had a tenderear to listen for any signs that he may want to end his life and on several occasions I had to let him knowthere is no Plan B . I know this is a normal feeling for people facing incarceration, but for Paul it is sofar out of character. I can testify as an expert witness that I am watching his life, as a dance, fading fromwhere it once was. It saddens me to see Paul in this condition and ifI could take his sentence for him inthis victimless case, I would.Your Honor, I have several close friends who are local Judges and I would never cross any boundarieswith them or you and I know your job is filled with difficult decisions every day. I am just pleading on
behalf of my friend and ask that the punishment truly fit the crime in this ease. He has no criminal history,
He is a Grandfather, Father, Husband and friend to many who love and support him. You control the nextfew years of Paul’s life and in essence, all of our lives for that same time. Please have mercy on all of us.Respectfully Submitted,
EAOUSAFOIA 663
