August 7, 2009 CS ; TO: The Secretary of the Board of Fire Commissioners for KCFD #43 ia FR: Jeff Granlund, Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners RE: My Resignation Effective immediately I am resigning as The Chairman of The Board and Fire Commissioner for King County Fire District # 43 (Maple Valley Fire & Life Safety) Position # 3 This resignation comes with great sadness after spending over 25 years of my life being actively involved in and helping make this department what it was. I can no longer support the direction that Commissioner Scott or Commissioner McGee is taking this department. For the last year and a half it has been a constant battle over issues that aren’t in the best interest of the citizens I have served for 12 years as a Commissioner. | cannot support the termination of Fire Chief Tim Lemon for reasons they have stated. Nor will I continue to serve a department who has lost sight of their original purpose. Chief Lemon has done a great job for this community and will be greatly missed, He has done nothing wrong other than stand up for the citizens of this community. He has always done the right thing knowing who he is accountable too, the citizens. ‘This is not the way I wanted to end my service to this community, but it is how it ends.
