Sedbergh School was ounded in 1939 by Thomas J. Wood, Vera Wood and Frank Duxbury. Both T.J. Wood and Frank Duxbury hadbeen teaching at Ontario’s Lakefeld College School when theydecided to venture out on their own. With the help o Chie JackRabbit Johannsen, a legendary outdoorsman, Wood and Duxburychose the 1,200 acres in Montebello, Quebec as the campus or theirnew school. With this spectacular setting, the school’s programmingutilized the vast acreage o wilderness as a venue or more than just atraditional education. The modern day school continues many o theoutdoor traditions o the school’s ounders, while challenging eachstudent academically and preparing them or university and theiruture success.Sedbergh School has always been an inclusive and diverse school.Originally a boy’s school, in 1989 girls joined the school’s community.Further, the school’s diversity is built by students rom a wide range o socio-economic and international backgrounds. Currently, the schoolis comprised o students rom a minimum o 10 countries.
