'm not exactly sure which part of my previous e-mail was the Greek part...

i regularly fail(or chose not) to standardize my punctuation..and then there's the odd formatting which sometimes occurs when what i see is not what you see on your end within the body of the e-mail message...in any event..for the most part i try to reserve the Greek ermetic component of my writings for !ther ends " rather different means ( as in raising the #ites of $hanopoei% ) but& i have noticed from your book shelf that you are a fan of old e' $ound.. and i've been reading some of your copy of $ersonae before turning my mind to sleep at night...doing this has made me return to guy davenport's writing.. where (ust today i found this bit drawn from an essay on his work which references his relationship to some of the the ideas of the filmmaker stan brakhage (whom he as very close with) )*ith a nod to film-maker +tan ,rakhage& -avenport calls his compositional principle )architectonic form.) .n the essay )/arrative 0one and 1orm&) he identifies in twentieth century literature )a movement from assuming the world to be transparent& and available to lucid thoughts and language& to assuming (having to assume& the artists involved would say) that the world is opa2ue) (Geography 344). %rchitectonic form derives from modernist experiments in disrupted perspective (as& for example& in collage and vorticism). )0he architectonics of a narrative&) -avenport says& )are emphasized and given a role to play in dramatic effect when novelists become 5ubists6 that is& when they see the possibilities of making a hieroglyph& a coherent symbol& an ideogram of the total work. % symbol comes into being when an artist sees that it is the only way to get all the meaning in. to be confined into a comfortable prison of endless entertainment and public selfdisclosure....entertained into an ironic spiral of smug spiritual death.... i don't fear religion unified with politics..this is already failing..and ultimately will just be a side show relegated to rural communities..and even those will die out in time as their children continue to be willfully swallowed up by the virtual world.... no...what i fear is the union of the corporate state, multinational banking and the "national security" industry with the shiniest of political machines... i feels sorry for...and in a way intellectually resent the vapid posturing of those who continue to try and reduce our most pressing problems to the (yes) mindless purveyors of fundamentalist religion(s)...for me, there is no more tiresome argument... and perhaps..no more dangerous one...as it pits good people against each other for the most superficial of reasons...when the real threat comes from above..and it is ultimately completely disinterested in the issues of faith or lack their of...it is the religion of consumerism..and its passive colonization of our minds..the conscious and unconscious commercialization of "privacy" where the real battles lines of the future are being drawn.... i'm sending this to you as a friend...rather than posting it on your page...in response to what i see as
