ELKHART LAKE, WIS. (August 12, 2009) – Timmy Megenbier returns to the cockpit of aVolkswagen Jetta TDI Cup car this coming weekend (August 14-15), with Round Six taking placeat Road America. The talented young American travels to the famed Wisconsin road course notonly as one of those expected to challenge for top honors, but the race pilot everyone is chasingin the point standings entering the second half of the 2009 season.Megenbier, having recently enjoyed a successful debut in the highly competitive German-basedVolkswagen Polo Cup – the reward for leading the Volkswagen TDI Jetta Cup at the midway pointof the season – returns to the cockpit of his No. 17 Chicagoland VW.com/Caputo Foods VWpoised to regain his winning ways at Road America. While the single-race event will mark the firsttime the VW Jetta Cup cars take to the high-speed 4.0-mile road course, the 18 year-oldMegenbier has previous race experience and success at Road America to fall back on. The two-time series race winner scored a podium finish – second place – in the 2006 during a Skip Barber National doubleheader, and has three top-10 finishes in the open-wheel series at Road America.Given these results, combined with his success at the Virginia International Raceway (third) andMiller Motorsports Park (first) high-speed tracks in the opening half of the season, it is not out of the question Megenbier could add to his 2009 wins total, and extend his 24-point lead in thechampionship standings.“I’m really looking forward to running my TDI Cup car on one of my favorite tracks in the world.”Stated Megenbier. “It will also be great to run with the ALMS Series because they draw so manyspectators.
