Description

Joseph Merrick had a younger sister, Marion Eliza (nicknamed "Eliza.") These are fictional letters they could have exchanged as Joseph is recovering from jaw surgery. We like to think perhaps they remained close through many family ups and downs.

If I might quote "Shadows of Evening": "Perfect in every word!" If only they really did keep in touch...let's hope they did. I love to imagine that at least Marion had some empathy for poor Joseph. I notice that he never said in real life if he ever did keep in touch with Marion Eliza, but I love to imagine he did, and this story is the perfect way to let that hope become real, at least for a while. :) A+.

pianomama2009: Thanks for your insightful comments! I think it's entirely possible they were close as brother and sister. These letters allow us to give Joseph's early life another ray of light and love, real or not. 09 / 02 / 2009
