AVID GRADING RUBRIC“A” Students:
1.
Demonstrate high expectations of themselves—seek challenges.
2.
Come to class on time, prepared to learn and make progress on their goals.
3.
Complete at least 88% of their class preparation work (Tutorial Worksheets, Progress Reports, etc.).
4.
Complete all major assignments on time, demonstrating mastery of the concepts and goals.5.Keep organized binders.
6.
Consistently write “exemplary” tutorial worksheets, including thoughtful questions and reflections at level 3.
7.
Participate actively, showing critical thinking in tutorials, discussions, and other class activities (or make greatprogress in doing so).
8.
Consistently take impressive notes, even when not asked to.9.Deal with obstacles and setbacks resourcefully, demonstrating their “ID” (individual determination).
10.
Show leadership, take initiative, and act as role models.
11.
Consistently go “above and beyond” what is asked of them.12.Demonstrate substantial progress toward personal goals and goals of the class.
13.
Expect more from learning than a grade, e.g., by connecting school work to the bigger picture of their lives.
14.
Seek out resources and help beyond the AVID classroom (SAT preparation, scholarships & contests, collegevisits in College Career Center, review sessions, meetings with teachers, math tutoring, writing lab, etc.)“B” Students:1.Usually demonstrate high expectations of themselves —seek challenges frequently.2.Come to class on time, prepared to learn and make progress on their goals.3.Complete at least 78% of their class preparation work (Tutorial Worksheets, Progress Reports, etc.).4.Complete all major assignments on time, demonstrating progress toward mastering the concepts and goals.5.Keep organized binders.

Consistently write “exemplary” or “satisfactory” tutorial worksheets, including thoughtful questions andreflections at level 3.
7.
Usually participate actively, showing critical thinking in tutorials, discussions, and other class activities (ormake good progress in doing so).8.Consistently take effective notes, often even when not asked to.9.Deal with obstacles and setbacks resourcefully, demonstrating their “ID” (individual determination).

Occasionally demonstrate high expectations of themselves but seek challenges infrequently.
2.
Usually come to class on time, prepared to learn and make progress on their goals.
3.
Complete at least 68% of their class preparation work (Tutorial Worksheets, Progress Reports, etc.).
4.
Complete all major assignments—most on time—demonstrating some progress toward mastering the conceptsand goals.5.Keep organized binders.
6.
Consistently write “satisfactory” tutorial worksheets, including reasonably useful questions and reflections thatare at least level 2.
7.
Participate somewhat (at least listen and not distract others) in tutorials, discussions, and other class activities(or make some progress in doing so).
8.
Take acceptable notes and only when reminded to do so.
9.
Attempt to deal with obstacles and setbacks resourcefully, demonstrating their desire to have “ID” (individualdetermination).
10.
Usually work adequately in groups and class.
