Description

This paper is the first application of the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings (FW-H) equation to helicopter rotor noise prediction in the time domain. Much of the analytic results of this paper are original and they have become part of the literature of aeroacoustics. Note that the derivation of Formulation 1 of Farassat was considerably simplified later and published in AIAA J, 19(9), 1981, 1122-1130.
