Site AcreageAnderson High School, which is not on the National Register of Historic Buildings, and originally constructed in 1961, is a 4 story, 234,103 square foot brick and glass schoolbuilding located in a suburban residential and commercial setting. The existing facility features a conventionally partitioned design, and does not utilize modular buildings. Thestructure of the 1961 Original Construction, the 1961 Auditorium Fixed Seating Area, 1964 Addition, 1964 Natatorium, 1964 Auditorium Fixed Seating Area, 1967 Addition, and1988 Addition contains a steel frame with brick veneer and curtain wall type exterior wall construction. The structure of the 1971 Addition has interior steel columns with a brickveneer on load bearing exterior masonry wall type exterior wall construction. The structure of the 2001 and 2003 Additions have a brick veneer on load bearing masonry wall typeexterior wall construction. The overall facility has concrete masonry units, brick, stone, ceramic tile, glazed block, concrete, metal stud framed partitions with gypsum board andplaster and operable partition type wall construction in the interior. The base floor system of the overall facility is concrete slab on grade type construction. The floor system of thefirst floor of the overall facility over the Boiler Room is structural reinforced cast-in-place concrete type construction. The floor system of the intermediate floors of the overall facilityis metal form deck on steel joist with concrete topping type construction. The roof structure of the 1961 Original Construction is gypsum deck on steel type construction. The roofstructure over the 1964 Addition is structural cementitious wood fiber deck on steel joist type construction. The roof structure over the 1967 Addition is tectum deck on steeltrusses type construction. The roof structure of the 1971, 1988, 2001, and 2003 Additions is metal form deck on steel joist type construction. The roofing system of the overallfacility, except for the 2003 Addition, is a modified asphalt built-up system with gravel wear coat that was installed in phases in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1997, and 2000. Theroofing system of the 2003 Addition is a fully adhered EPDM membrane system that was installed in 2003. The ventilation system of the building is inadequate to meet the needsof the users. The Classrooms are undersized in terms of the current standards established by the State of Ohio. Physical Education and Student Dining spaces consist of a 13,516SF Primary Gymnasium, 2,922 SF Auxiliary Gymnasium, and 1,983 SF Natatorium, and separate Student Dining. The electrical system for the facility is inadequate. The facility isequipped with a non-compliant security system. The building has a compliant manual and automatic fire alarm system. The facility is not equipped with an automated firesuppression system, except in limited areas of the 2001 Addition. The building is reported to contain asbestos and other hazardous materials. The overall building is not compliantwith ADA accessibility requirements. The school is located on a 30 acre site shared with Bus Maintenance Garage, District Maintenance Offices, Food Service / TransportationOffices, and the District Board Offices adjacent to residential and commercial properties. The property, play areas, and athletic facilities are partially fenced for security. Accessonto the site is unrestricted. Site circulation is poor. There is dedicated space for school buses to load and unload on the site, but is not separated from vehicular traffic. Parking forstaff, visitors, students, and community events is inadequate.This school is the largest facility in the District and has served as the original High School for the District.Previous PageNext Page
