(The following proceedings were had in open court in thepresence and hearing of the jury:)THE COURT: Okay, everyone can have a seat. You have all got a copy of the jury instructions.I'm also going to read them. Don't ask me why. It's just oneof those things we traditionally do, but actually you canunderstand things better if you read them and hear them at thesame time.I've got these on what amounts to a teleprompter, soit's just going to take a second for it to come up. Pleasefeel free to follow along.Members of the jury, you have seen and heard all theevidence, and you're about to hear the arguments of theattorneys. Now I will instruct you on the law.You have two duties as a jury. Your first duty is todecide the facts from the evidence in the case. This is yourjob and yours alone. Your second duty is to apply the lawthat I give you to the facts. You must follow theseinstructions even if you disagree with them. Each of the instructions is important, and you mustfollow all of them. You must also continue to follow theinstructions that I gave you at the start of the trial, thatyou may not communicate about the case or about peopleinvolved in the case with anyone other than your fellow jurorsuntil after you have returned your verdict.
