Description

In Edison Junior High School - 7th or 8th grade - we had a course that was intended to encourage kids to expand their reading interests and explore. I think that's where I encountered inkhorn terms for the first time (may be fautly in my memory of this, but it will have to do unless I experience a better recall). We read an excerpt from Ben Jonson's "The Poetaster". (Now that I think of it, it may have been in 10th grade humanities class...? Anyway - ) I was delighted with the sparkling word play - the absurdity on par with Monty Python, psychadelic-trip-inspired off-the-wall stuff, and Lewis Carroll-like nonsense. It appealed to that prominent aspect of my nature, as well as the parts of me that were drawn to the rhythms of words and speech.

So... that's why this article is here on Scribed... Hope you find something in it to enjoy...
