Why
the
Audit
Was
Done
Federal law permits theCommission to conductaudits and fieldinvestigations
of
anypolitical committee that isrequired to file reportsunder the FederalElection Campaign Act(the Act).
The
Commission generallyconducts such auditswhen a committeeappears not to have metthe thresholdrequirements forsubstantial compliancewith the Act.

The auditdetermines whether thecommittee complied withthe limitations,prohibitions anddisclosure requirementsof the Act.
Future
