This study by Gary Ruskin from Essential Information looks at corporate espionage against non profit organizations.
Most of the described cases are not new and this documentation is far from complete.
But you can find here cases covering U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Walmart, Monsanto, Bank of America, Dow Chemical, Kraft, Coca Cola, Chevron, Burger King, McDonald’s, Shell, BP, BAE, Sasol, Brown & Williamson and E.ON
Essential Information is a US based organisation [http://www.essentialinformation.org/] which explains the slight focus of this document on the reality in the United States.
Sadly Espionage is just one offensive tactics used by companies against nonprofit, organizations, activists and whistleblowers. And it is a sad fact that in some countries like Brazil and Bangladesh being an environmental activist or human rights defender can cost you your life.
One of the companies not mentioned in Ruskin's study has been Nestlé. You might ask: "Why should such a study mention Nestlé, a Swizz company for which George Clooney makes advertisement for sure never would do this. Right?"
It took an ATTAC group in Switzerland nearly 9 years of legal battle before finally at the end of January 2013 Nestlé and the Swiss security company Securitas AG were ordered by a Swiss court to pay compensation for infiltration of one of their working groups which was working on a book on the corporate behavior of Nestlé
