July 2009 Newsletter

Everything hasslowed down a bit here sincemost of the visitors from America leftduring the first part of July. Our familyhas moved where the Bruingtons used tolive before they left. The bigger househas been a great blessing to us now thatwe have three children. The people whocome to the weekly Bible studies arecontinuing to grow in understanding andlove for others.

In the last newsletter, I mentioned a mannamed Gladson. He had been persecutedby his family because of his fatherSawanda. Well, about a week afterwriting the last newsletter, Gladson wasphysically attacked by his brothers withthe support of Sawanda, his father. Heescaped by fleeing from his village. Sincethen, he has been renting a house in anearby village, while getting ready tobuild a new house.Still after being attacked, Gladson hasrefused to go to the police. He hasforgiven his father and brothers andcontinues to pray that they can changetheir hearts and come back to God.Gladson has lost all of his possessions andcontinues to love those who attackedhim. His example has truly been a blessingto the Kankuwa church.At the same time while building his newhouse, he has continued to help lead thechurch. They have completed the newchurch building, organized a seminar forAugust, and continue teaching andinviting everybody in the area to learnabout Jesus.In the past three months, they have gonefrom 8 people to about 40. About 20people have returned and many visitorsare now regularly attending. These peoplehave seen the love of God throughGladson and now they are also followingJesus without fear.Because everyone has heard what hashappened to Gladson, many Christiansfrom the other churches in Mumena wantto help him. They have arranged a workday on August 29

where they will bemaking mud bricks for his house.All of this has shown how God can turn anevil situation into a blessing for His family.
