Include the following in your paper:

•A comparison of at least two types of specialized databases, such as the following:

◦Mobile data terminals
◦AFIS
◦Live scan

Technology and Communication Anthony Hendricks CJA/304 September 2, 2013

Communication can be an important component of everyone’s everyday lives. During the
last several years, technology progressively has enhanced the methods associated with communication used all over the world. Within the criminal justice system, technologies as well
as communication perform an important factor with precisely how effectively authority’s
organizations thrive. It is vital that these law enforcement organizations collect up-to-date data concerning criminal issues they may be a part of as well as the development of technology in the  past has enhanced precisely how rapidly and effectively the most up-to-date information are conveyed immensely. Most of these modern advances consist of portable information terminals, the Computerized Fingerprint Identification System, along with biometrics, which include face identification and iris scanning. One early way of electronic communication in the criminal justice system is portable information terminals. Before computer systems were incorporated into the criminal justice system, information was gathered within the field and conveyed to other individuals through written information and reports and also the data was saved and filed inside metal cabinets. When the criminal justice system started developing computerized devices during the 1980s, some of the bigger law enforcement organizations began utilizing mobile information terminals. Most of these mobile information terminals were set up inside the
law enforcement agencies’
patrol cars, and it also applied mobile information networks using the
vehicle’s radio devices.
Nevertheless, most of these mobile information terminals could simply communicate an exceptionally minimal volume of text to the smaller monitors set up inside the patrol vehicles and also the transmitting of the information had been incredibly slow. Despite the expensive costs, information limitations, and slow transmission speeds, the mobile information terminals

may communicate the required data to officials on patrol, and it had been an exceptional development to prior ways of communicating data (Dispatch Magazine On-Line, n. d.). Since the 1980s, the modern world has witnessed significant improvements within the technology of portable information. Initially, portable information technology had been a rarity, however today it is just a popular way of communication by way of the majority of the world. Portable information technology lately includes cell phones, personal information assistants (PDAs), as well as laptop computers. This more recent portable information technology is certainly capable of wirelessly sending large volumes of information within mere seconds from around the globe. Developing the ability to deliver and obtain more substantial amounts of data in an exceedingly small-time frame, law enforcement organizations have enhanced their effectiveness in communications significantly (Dispatch Magazine On-Line, n. d.). More recent strategies for technological communication within the criminal justice field is the Automated Fingerprint Identification System, which is referred to by the acronym AFIS. AFIS stands out as the premier database used by most levels of law enforcement to assist in handling crimes, avoiding crimes, and capturing criminals, and can be used anytime by law enforcement organizations. The AFIS database consists of different types of data to help law enforcement organizations in determining a person assuming that his or her data has already been earlier archived within the database. These types of identifying data consist of fingerprints, criminal histories, mug photographs, images of scars and body art, physical attributes (height, weight, hair color, along with eye color as well as aliases. The AFIS database in addition offers law enforcement organizations with several supplemental capabilities for instance a computerized fingerprint search, latent search, digital photo storage, and the opportunity to swap
