We will have to start this edition of Sopanam with a loud round of applause for the participants of GOKULOLSAVAM 2013 conducted by Bala Darshan Kuwait. The students have shown immense interest and showcased the true nature of why Bala Darshan Kuwait was formed. They have reiterated our commitment to the up keeping of our culture and heritage while living in a foreign land and in a different culture. It is essential to bring up our future generation in tune with our ancient wisdom that has today become the foundation of various researches and studies. The advices given to us by our sages and learned people have often been brushed aside in our pursuit of materialistic happiness.Kerala is witnessing a spate of violence in connection to the recommendations given by eminent environmentalists. While we agree some of these recommendations may affect the livelihood of countless number of people living across the Western Ghats, it is also our responsibility to study the report and have a rational approach. The lifestyle being adopted by vested interests in this area is bound to create immense damage on the environment. It becomes our responsibility to change this to a more environment friendly development that will ensure peace. It is unfortunate that the government is keenly following the careless attitude it has been supporting for many years and now ignoring the Gadgil Panel Report on the preservation of Western Ghats Eco systems. Instead of properly educating the populations on the recommendations, the government seems to involved in a political conspiracy with vested interests in the area to create violent atmosphere that will ensure that the Gadgil as well as the Kasturirangan report will be discarded,Our philosophy has always been for the coexistence of science and spirituality for the betterment of the whole world. While we successfully launched Maangalyan, some people have questioned the need for spending huge amount of money on such missions when millions live in poverty in the nation. Indians
have always had the scientic temper to pursue
knowledge and from ancient times we have given
the world huge contributions from our ndings. We
need to keep this spirit alive in our young generation and not let it be brushed aside by the observations of a few hypocrites and socialites who spend time attending parties and fund raisers. It is becomes important to make the citizens of our nation understand the need, the results of the various
scientic researches that are being undertaken. They must also be made aware of the benets of
the results these yield. Many NGO’s like Vigyan Bharati, Swadeshi Science Movement, Kerala Shastra Sahitya Parshad have been instrumental in doing this work. But a lot more effort from the part of the ruling establishment in needed. These efforts will pave way for better citizens who think rationally. As part of its social responsibility, Seva Darshan Kuwait is working towards the formation of the Kuwait Chapter of Science India Forum for the
benet of the students of Kuwait and hope to have
the forum active by next year. We take this opportunity to wish all the devotees of Lord Ayyappa who have stated their prayers and fasting to visit the abode of the Lord at Sabarimala and safe journey.
