Summary of Analysis
Out of the 5 Opening sequences I analysed, every opening sequence I chose had a
convention of a company such as “Paramount Pictures present”. 4 out of the 5 opening
sequences showed the location of the film and the last opening sequences was an animated sequence. The Opening sequences I picked and their genres:-

The Walking Dead
 –
 Horror/Thriller

Captain America
 –
 Action

21 Jump Street
 –
 Action/Comedy

Evil Dead
 –
 Horror/Thriller

Zombieland
 –
 Horror/Comedy
The Walking Dead
I like
d the opening sequence for “The Walking Dead” because there were some great camera shots, for example, there was a close up shot on a zombie’s face which made the
sequence very intense. Also the titles that pop up are very small and bold, so there big enough to catch your attention but it lets you focus on the background. The downside is that the font could be a bit bigger as it can be sometimes quite hard to read.
Captain America
I really liked this opening sequence to “Captain America” as it used very bri
ght colours and really caught my attention. The titles that were used were very bold and in an opposite colour to the background, by doing this it made the title stand out, this made it much more visible to see. This sequence was animated but it still gave off very cool moods and feelings.
21 Jump Street
The opening sequence to “21 Jump Street” was good as when the titles came up they were
shown in a very bold font and were shown in the colours of white, red and blue, these are the colours of the Police. This was very cool as this film is about the Police and it links the titles with the film very well.
Evil Dead
I didn’t really like the opening sequence to “Evil Dead” as there weren’t many titles in the
sequence and the colours were pretty plain and boring. Altogether there were only around
5 titles which is a shame because it is an OK film. But I wouldn’t use this as an inspiration for
my opening sequence.
Zombieland
I liked the opening sequence to “Zombieland” because it uses colours for the titles that li
nk to the genre which is Horror/comedy, the colour that they use is the colour red. The colour red links too many things such as death, Blood and danger which is what they are trying to
