***Important Note***

It seems that my assertion about pina colada ice cream adverts in the 1930s is incorrect. However the rest of the information is correct. The advert I was referring to was from the 1950s.

Great article and very historically correct. As a Cuban-American, I know of too many Cuban drinks or products that have been adopted by other contries because Cuba nowadays is not on a lot of peoples popularity list due to its dictatorship government under Fidel Castro. Cuba is not Fidel and cuban foods and drinks should not be viewed as tabu. It's ok to admit Pina Colada is Cuban and this does not make anyone who drinks pina colada a communist.

i always woundered how drinks got named
