Yeah flowers were the standard, I too got the courage to leave and raise my children, and now my heart is broken again coz this evening I dropped MY daughter at a battered women's shelter....she married someone just like dad....stop the cycle

that was my life for a very long time but today i have the power to stand with knowldge i learned through compleating a program for battered women i no longer allow anyone to place hands on me today im a stronge confadent and beautiful lady and my name is sarah kennedy

This is sad..I used to get flowers too. I thank God, he gave me courage to walk out before receiving the last flower. Am now happy.

Patty, the work you are doing to end domestic violence is vital. Keep going. Also, your work to help the victims of Haiti has not gone unnoticed. They need a voice and you are part of that.

This poem was written by Allen W. Dowdell in 1991 and is incorrectly attributed to Paulette Kelly. See this page: http://efstew.tripod.com/ And then please give the correct credit to Mr. Dowdell. Thank you very much.

Our agency is an active GAD advocate and we already have this poem routed to every staff for them to read...reflect...and learn from it. It is so touching and very true...however, i hope every man in this world will be able to read this so that the next time they give a flower to their loved ones, it will not be because they wanted to say sorry for hitting or hurting them but because they wanted to say "I LOVE YOU".
