Student, Leader, Learner In my academic journey I have had opportunities that have helped me develop as a student, leader, and learner. A significant opportunity was being the chapter president of the Phi Theta Kappa – Honors Society (PTK). This opportunity helped me be a competent leader while managing other academic and personal responsibilities. In order to become an officer of PTK I had to participate in a leadership course where I was able to focus on  public speaking skills, team-building exercises, and critical thinking skills. Over the years I have had some skills flourish faster than others making them obvious strengths. A primary strength that covers all three roles is being detail-oriented and organized. Mastering these skills even when my schedule is overwhelming has helped me stay on top of tasks and get ahead. A strength that I have as a learner is being curious. I constantly want to know more and this fuels my passion to continue my academic journey. I conducted research as a freshman and realized that I enjoyed it so much because I was able to pursue my curiosity and find out “solutions” to every-day problems. I have also found that being a versatile learner has helped me overcome obstacles no matter what life threw at me. I currently do not have a smartphone so that meant not having a GPS system readily available. Without a GPS, I was forced to memorize streets and perfect my internal compass. Much of the strengths I have as a learner assisted me in being a better student. I found that being honest, collaborative, and having a sense of perspective when approaching tasks or others were three primary strengths I have as a leader. I am mainly a visual and tactile learner. Since I am a tactile learner I have a tendency of applying concepts I learn in class to real life situations. Therefore, as a leader,
