PAC-12 FOOTBALL AWARDS AND ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM ANNOUNCED

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.Running back KaDeem Carey of ARIZONA has been named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, defensive tackle Will Sutton of ARIZONA STATE the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year and Todd Graham, also of Arizona State, the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. In addition, running back/linebacker Myles Jack of UCLA has been named both the Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Freshman of the Year. Offensive Player of the Year - KaDeem Carey, RB, Arizona: Carey, a junior from Tucson, Ariz., rushed for 1,716 yards on 322 attempts in 11 games this season, leading the Pac-12 in rushing yards per game (156.0 yards per game) while his total touchdowns (18) were second in Conference and all-purpose yards per game (171.7 yards per game) was third. The Doak Walker award finalist becomes the first Wildcat to win offensive player of the year honors in the history of the award. Careys streak of 15 consecutive 100-yard performances is a Pac-12 record and is the longest active streak by an FBS player over the last 10 years. The nations second-leading rusher was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2013, the first coming after a 236-yard performance on a then school-record 40 carries in a win over Utah on October 19. The second-weekly honor was earned following another 200-plus yard night on a new program-record 48 carries as the Wildcats upended No. 5 Oregon on November 25. Carey is a two-time All-Pac-12 first team performer and was the nations rushing champion in 2012.

Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year - Will Sutton, DE, Arizona State: Sutton, a redshirt senior from Corona, Calif., earns the honor for the second-consecutive year, making him just the second player in Conference history to earn defensive player of the year accolades twice in his career, the other being former Washington defensive tackle Steve Emtman, who won the award in 1990 and 1991. He anchored a Sun Devil defense that was third in the Conference in total defense (351.0 yards per game), was tied for second in sacks (36 total sacks) and led the Conference in forced turnovers (30). Sutton lead an aggressive defense that has forced one turnover in 26-consecutive games, which is good for third in the country among FBS schools for longest-active streak. On the year, Sutton recorded 10.5 tackles for loss for 38 yards, three sacks and an interception that sealed a win over UCLA to clinch the Pac-12 South Division title and earn the Sun Devils first Pac-12 Football Championship game berth.

Freshman Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year - Myles Jack, RB/LB, UCLA: Jack, a freshman from Bellevue, Wash., made an immediate impact in his first season of collegiate football, playing on both sides of the ball for the Bruins. He started 11 of 12 games at his true position of linebacker, collecting 70 tackles on the year, the third-most of any freshman in the Conference, adding five tackles for loss, an interception, a blocked kicked and 10 pass breakups. Jack became a two-way player for UCLA towards the end of the season, first jumping in at running back in a win over Arizona on November 9. In the victory over the Wildcats, Jack rushed for 120 yards on six carries, including a 66-yard touchdown late in the game to seal the win and earn him Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors. It marked the first time in Conference history a defensive player won the offensive player of the week award. In four games at running back Jack amassed 267 yards on 37 carries (7.2 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns, while his rushing yards and total touchdowns were good for

fourth on the team. This is the first time since the freshman offensive and defensive player of the year awards were introduced in 2008 that a player has won both honors. Coach of the Year - Todd Graham, Arizona State: In just his second year at the helm of Arizona State football, Graham earns Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors after leading the Sun Devils to a 10-2 record overall and a 8-1 mark in Conference play, claiming the South Division title and hosting the Pac-12 Championship after finishing with the best record in league play. Graham improved on a first year where the program saw its first winning season in five years by leading the Sun Devils to their first 10-win season since 2007. The Sun Devils notched three wins over ranked opponents in 2013, including over No. 13 UCLA to clinch the South Division and earn a berth in the Pac-12 Championship game. Grahams emphasis on defense and discipline materialized on the field as Arizona State was third in the Conference in total defense (351.0 yards per game) and first in least amount of penalty yards (28.5 penalty yards per game). He is the fourth coach in Arizona State history to be named Conference Coach of the Year, joining John Cooper (1986), Bruce Snyder (1996) and Dennis Erickson (2007).

NOTES ON THE 2013 ALL-PAC-12 FOOTBALL TEAM Selection Procedures: The All-Pac-12 Team is selected by the Pac-12 head football coaches. By School: ARIZONA STATE and STANFORD placed the most players on the first team with six selections each. By Class: Of the 27 first-team selections, two are graduate students, 11 are seniors, nine are juniors, four are sophomores and one freshman. Unanimous: Only one player was named on the first-team ballot of all 12 head coaches--RB KaDeem Carey of Arizona. Two-time Selections: Ten players are repeat first-team selections from last year. All-Academic: Two first team All-Pac-12 performers were also named to the Pac-12 All Academic second teamRB Bishop Sankey of Washington and DB Ed Reynolds of STANFORD, while Washington defensive lineman Hauoli Kikaha was named to the All-Pac-12 second team and Pac-12 All-Academic first team.
