Admixture Retardation

We write with reference to your inquiry about the retardation of the concrete with Adcrete Retarding Plasticizer.
The

report SS 1202271issued by ITI only gives an indication about the comparative retardation plain cement with and without admixtures. This values are based on the Vicat Apparatus test of carried out with OPC and the retarder under controlled laboratory conditions where the
temperature is 26Co
.

The retardation of concrete or cement is mainly a function of ambient temperature, Setting time of cement, water/cement ratio, Type and dosage of retarder and many more factors.
Even the retardation of the concrete is tested, this is only valid for that particular time of the day. This figure is varied during day and night time even with the same ingredient and the mix. The change in the setting time of cement and the cement temperature is another factor.

With our experience, we suggest that you should use around 425 ml of Adcrete for l00kg of cement in your concrete mix for a retardation of 3.5hr to 4.5hr. Best option is to design for few
hours longer retardation than required in anticipation of the extremes of other parameters.
