((Pinto logo left justified) December 2013 Dear District 64B DFLer: I am writing to invite you to join my campaign

n to champion our progressive values in the Legislature. Rep. Michael Paymar has represented our values well and I applaud his efforts. As he steps aside, I seek your support for the DFL endorsement to be the next State Representative for District 64B. My progressive agenda for Minnesota is simple: its one that includes decent work for fair pay, a minimum wage that can support a family, universal health care, a strong education system that works for all kids, secure and affordable housing for families and seniors, a healthy environment, smart transportation, and equity in opportunity. Underlying all of these is the fundamental belief that we take care of one another. The way Ive lived out this belief in my day-to-day work is through advocating for and protecting children. As a lawyer in private practice, I helped change a suburban high schools discriminatory treatment of its LGBT students. At the Ramsey County Attorneys Office, Ive led a team of attorneys prosecuting domestic violence involving children for which I was recently honored by advocates for victims and now focus on juvenile sex trafficking, taking on traffickers and working for policy change to protect our kids from this modern-day form of slavery. Using the law in these ways has been gratifying. But through my work Ive realized how much more we can do to truly advocate for kids and work for a better future in Minnesota. We need to expand investments in both early childhood education and out-of-school opportunities for kids. The work on bullying protections and school safety needs to be finished. Safe harbor options to prevent sexual exploitation need full funding. Equity gaps in health and education need to be closed. If we champion these causes for our children, we will create a better future for us all. My wife Abby, our two sons and I have made Highland Park our home, and for more than a decade, I have worked alongside you to create the progressive vision we share. Together, we have knocked on doors, sat next to each other at phone banks, and worked for progressive candidates and causes to create change. In case you dont know my background: I grew up just a couple miles north of the district, attended public schools, and went on to receive graduate degrees in law and business. I served in the Clinton White House and in Congressman Bruce Ventos office. I practiced law at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi where I was recognized for providing legal services to the needy before moving to the Ramsey County Attorneys Office. Im a member of AFSCME Council 5, and Ive served on the Highland District Council and St. Pauls Long-Term Capital Improvement Budget Committee. Now that youve learned a bit about my vision, I want to know about your vision for what will make Minnesota a better place. Please call me anytime at (651) 252-1706 or visit www.davepinto.com. I welcome your participation in my campaign, encourage you to attend the precinct caucuses on February 4, 2014, and ask for your support for the DFL endorsement of my candidacy for District 64B and our vision for a better Minnesota. Sincerely,
