Rocky Mountain House RCMP have completed this investigation and would like to provide the following update.

The 51 year male driver of a truck that struck and killed a pedestrian on highway 11 on November 22, 2013, near Rocky Mountain House, is now facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. On November 27, 2013, Rocky RCMP executed a search warrant on his vehicle and following an extensive catalogue of over 350 exhibits, 171 lbs of packaged marihuana was found concealed within the box of the truck. The shipment was believed to be traveling from British Columbia to Alberta. The estimated value of the marihuana is near $600,000. He is scheduled to attend court in Rocky Mountain House on January 8, 2014. As a result of the investigation into incidents that occurred after the collision on November 22, 2013, Rocky Mountain House RCMP have laid the following charges against the occupants of the SUV: A 17 year old male from Rocky Mountain House is charged with 1 count each of, Assault with a Weapon, and Mischief against the driver of the truck, he also faces 3 counts of Breach of Probation and remains in custody awaiting court. Delphine DIXON, from Rocky Mountain House is charged with one count of assault against the driver of the truck. She is attending court in Rocky Mountain House on January 15, 2014. Hysteria SIMEON, from Rocky Mountain House is charged with impaired driving and Provincial driving offences and will be attending court in Rocky Mountain House on January 15, 2014. -30Original Media Release on November 24, 2013: On November 22, 2013, at approx 9:45 PM, Rocky Mountain House RCMP, FIRE and EMS were dispatched to a vehicle/pedestrian collision on Hwy 11 approx 40kms West of Rocky Mountain House. RCMP members attending the call encountered an SUV traveling Eastbound on Highway 11 that matched the description of one of the vehicles possibly involved in the collision. Moments after, the SUV entered the ditch, Police located several intoxicated occupants in the vehicle along with a female that was in critical condition. Within minutes, Police also located a pick up truck with significant front end damage approx 15kms further West on Hwy 11. Police spoke to the driver of the truck and determined that he had been traveling east bound on Hwy 11, and struck a female pedestrian who was walking on the highway near a SUV which was parked on the westbound shoulder of the road. The driver of the pick up truck stopped to offer assistance and an altercation took place between the pick up truck driver and the occupants of the SUV. Shortly after the occupants of the SUV placed the injured female in the vehicle and departed East on Hwy 11 towards Rocky Mountain House where they entered the ditch and were located by police.

A 14 year old female from Eden Valley, Alberta was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. The driver of the pick up was treated at Rocky hospital and released.
