GUIDANCE ON THE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE MODELThis document has been produced on behalf of Association of Chief Police Officers inScotland by the ACPOS NIM Development Project. This work has been carried out with theconsent of ACPO and in collaboration with the National Centre for Policing Excellence(NCPE).The ACPOS NIM Development Project formed in November 2004. As part of its remit theproject was required to produce a corporate framework for the use of the NIM in Scotlandand to develop generic documentation to be adopted by ACPOS. The guidance produced inthis manual should be used by Chief Officers to shape the policing response to ensureconsistent levels of service. The implementation of all guidance will require operationalchoices to be made at a local level in order to achieve the appropriate police response. This guidance underpins the intention of all Scottish police forces and the Scottish Crime andDrug Enforcement Agency to fully implement the NIM within the respective organisations. All enquiries about this guidance should be addressed to :The ACPOS NIM Development ProjectScottish Police CollegeTulliallan CastleKincardineFifeFK10 4BETelephone: 01259 732082AcknowledgementsACPOS and the ACPOS NIM Development Project would like to express their thanks in thecompletion of this document to ACPO and the NCPE for allowing the ACPO (2005) Guidanceon the National Intelligence Model to be adapted to suit the Scottish context. As can be seenfrom the content of the document, this amended version is extremely close to the originalsource document. All consultation and advice provided to the team in the preparation phaseof the work was extremely useful and is very much appreciated.
