ISSUE/AGENDA ITEM TITLE: A Resolution Amending the Municipal Court Schedule of Fees BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: Certain City ordinances have been updated and fees and fines for said ordinances have been reviewed by the Police Department and City Attorney. RES-2013-12-01 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE MUNICIPAL COURT FEE SCHEDULE TO OFFSET EXPENSES AND DEFRAY THE COST OF OPERATION OF THE BROOKHAVEN MUNICIPAL COURT AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Brookhaven provides that the City may adopt a Schedule of Fees to defray the cost of operation of the Municipal Court; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 9 of the City of Brookhaven Code of Ordinances, the Municipal Court has recommended such a Schedule of Fees based upon its best estimate of the actual costs of the Municipal Court and its jurisdiction to prosecute certain violations of state law, as attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKHAVEN, and it is resolved by the authority of said City Council, that the recommended Schedule Fees attached hereto and incorporated herein by specific reference, is approved and adopted by the City of Brookhaven to defray the cost of operating the Brookhaven Municipal Court and in accordance by applicable law.
