Minutes from the committee meeting of Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) and Neighbourhood Watch on Monday 11th November

2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant. 1. Roll Call and Apologies Present: John Gordon, Jo Smith, Rosie Pocklington, Lizzi Hewitt, David Barnes, Pamela Pinski. Apologies: Mesbah Shafait, Val Woodward, Dominic Terrana-Howe, Gabi Butler, Michael Butler. 2. HS2 and Trams Since the last meeting, John has spoken to various parties at Birmingham City Council who have confirmed that a tram route linking the new HS2 terminus with Digbeth High Street has been proposed as a real possibility. Peaky Tours Rosie and Pam reported on the success of the Peaky Blinders Tours: along with coverage in local, national and international press, 120 people attended the tours on 1 and 2 November, and there are over 450 people on the waiting list for future tours in 2014. Police Report and Neighbourhood Watch News The Digbeth Police, working with DRA, have announced their Protect Yourself events taking place throughout the autumn in locations in Digbeth. Read more online. DRA is developing stronger links with residents in the Rea developments on Bradford Street, and hopes to work together to help reduce anti-social behaviour and bicycle thefts. 5. Night Time Economy John has been working closely with venues to present a united voice of residents and businesses to the Police on issues surrounding the night time economy in Digbeth. He is also working on a Street Watch initiative with South and City College for security forces students. 6. End of Year Get Together and Community Awards Nominations A reminder that Decembers meeting will be followed by a get together; community award nominations were invited and discussed. 7. Any other business None. 8. Date and Time of Next Meetings The next committee meeting will be held on Monday 13th January 2014 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth.
